Hundreds of products including nasal sprays and baby oral gels sold at CVS, Walgreens, Dollar General, Family Dollar and other stores are being recalled because of possible contamination.

The recall started after the manufacturer, Product Quest Manufacturing, found microbial contamination — bacteria called Pseudomonas aeruginosa — in its CVS Health 12 Hour Sinus Relief Nasal Mist. The company said it had not found evidence of contamination in other products but voluntarily expanded the recall “out of an abundance of caution.”

The recall applies to all products made in its Florida plant, including nasal mists, sprays, and gels.

Using a contaminated nasal spray or other nasal product repeatedly may lead to an infection that could be life-threatening for certain people, including those with cystic fibrosis or with weaker immunity. Using the oral gels carries the same risk and could be life-threatening for babies and young children.

The company said it had not received any reports of problems related to the recall.
